A group of Suffolk Coastal Felixstowe Councillors have clubbed their Enabling Communities Budgets together to support the town’s CAB.
Together, Councillors Mike Deacon, Steve Gallant, Susan Harvey and Doreen Savage have given £1,250 to the Citizens Advice Bureau in Felixstowe to help create another office which has helped create a new space for the CAB’s new telephone service.
Citizens Advice offers free, impartial, confidential and independent advice in person or by phone and the new phone service, Adviceline means all calls across the UK will be answered either locally or by another office in the county.
Graham Page, Manager of the Felixstowe Office, said:
“We’re very pleased to receive this funding as it means we’ve been able to create a new office in our unused space upstairs. This has enabled us to rearrange the office so that we have more space for our new telephone system.
The new phone system is a great benefit to local people as it means that whatever happens, if they make a call to Citizens Advice, their call will never be left unanswered.”
Cllr Doreen Savage, Ward Member for Felixstowe East, said on behalf of all the councillors who contributed:
“We were pleased we were able to support the CAB as it’s a vital part of our community and importantly it can be accessed by anyone. It’s totally inclusive irrespective of status and I think it’s essential we help to continue this free, impartial and readily available service.”
