Free parking in Boulevard throughout March

As a show of goodwill to businesses and customers affected by the roadworks in Oulton Broad, Waveney District Council has announced a period of free parking in the local Boulevard Car Park.

A major scheme to replace ageing gas mains in Oulton Broad began on 20th February and the Council is working closely with local business representative group, Oulton Broad Community Enterprise, to help address the impact of the works. With this in mind, the car park will be entirely free, all day, until March 31st.

Although the Council is not responsible for the works, it is determined to ensure that people still visit and shop in the local area and Cllr Stephen Ardley, Cabinet Member for Operational Partnerships hopes that this gesture will make a difference.

He said:

“We know that businesses are very worried about the roadworks and that customer numbers are down. So we hope that a period of free parking will help. Oulton Broad is a great place to visit and to shop and we are really pleased to be able to make this offer for the benefit of the local community.”

Cllr Michael Ladd, Waveney’s Cabinet Member for Tourism and Economic Development says that the special offer reflects the importance that Waveney places on supporting the local economy. He said:

“I am delighted that we are able help local businesses in this way. Economic growth is one of the council’s key objectives and the health of small businesses is a vital part of our strategy for the district.”
