The newly formed partnership for Leiston, Leiston Together, is looking for an Independent Chair to lead its Partnership Board.
Leiston Together was formed in November 2016 through support from the the Department for Communities and Local Government’s, (DCLG) Coastal Communities Fund to create a Coastal Community Team in the town. The partnership aims to regenerate the town to improve the lives of local people, businesses and community groups.
The partnership meets to use its influence and resources to enable the delivery of four key priorities in the community of Leiston. These focus on town centre regeneration, young people, business and enterprise and health and wellbeing.
This voluntary role, initially for 12 months, is centred on leading the Board to ensure these four priorities are delivered.
The board meets on a bi-monthly basis and is currently represented by Suffolk Coastal District Council, Leiston Town Council and the Leiston and District Community Partnership. As the delivery work progresses it is hoped membership of the board will increase to involve partners including Suffolk County Council, Community Action Suffolk and other community partners.
Nominations from individuals with experience of using an asset based, community enabling and capacity building approach and a track record of supporting groups/organisations to work in partnership will be welcomed. The right individual will have the commitment, experience and energy to harness local skills and enthusiasm in order to deliver more through working in partnership.
Elspeth Gibson, Leiston Change Manager, said:
“There’s lots of positive things happening in Leiston at the moment and we hope with the new partnership we can harness this positivity to make the town a better place for everyone including local people, businesses and community groups.
“I’m excited to see this new partnership coming together which aims to regenerate the town and as change manager, my new role is key to facilitating the delivery of these priorities in Leiston.
“We’re looking for individuals with experience in leading partnerships to help us lead Leiston’s key priorities. If you have experience working in the community and a track record of supporting groups or organisations we would love to hear from you.”
Interested individuals are invited to apply by sending a CV, covering letter and two relevant references by Wednesday 31 May.
Leiston Together Board members will select the Independent Chair on Wednesday 21 June 2017.
