Beccles residents from across the generations were brought together last week at a special event hosted by local students.

Supported by the Council’s East Suffolk Communities Team, 22 older people took part in the  ‘Muncheon Mingle’ event  held at Beccles Free School where students, along with students from the Sir John Leman High School, provided activities including bingo as well as music and drama performances.

Cllr Mary Rudd, Waveney District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Health and Safety said:

“This is the second Muncheon Mingle event held in Beccles and both have proven popular with local residents. Many of the older people who came to this event live alone; loneliness can have such a negative impact on people’s physical and mental wellbeing and so we hope these activities help people to feel more involved and connected.”

The East Suffolk Communities Team comprises officers from Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils and Suffolk County Council, working together to support local communities.
