Following the success of similar intergenerational events held in East Suffolk, older residents from the Felixstowe area are invited to an event run by local young people.

On Wednesday 28 November, children from Fairfield Infant School, Colneis Junior School, Kingsfleet Primary School and Felixstowe Academy will be at the Orwell Hotel in Felixstowe, providing activities for older members of the local community and celebrating the past, present and future of the town.

Cllr Steve Gallant, Suffolk Coastal District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Health said:

“Intergenerational events, which bring older and younger people together, help to build relationships within communities and tackle social isolation and loneliness which can be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of our older residents.”

The event, supported by the East Suffolk Communities Team, takes place at the Orwell Hotel, Hamilton Road in Felixstowe between 1pm and 3.30pm. Refreshments will be provided by the East of England Coop.

The East Suffolk Communities Team comprises officers from Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils and Suffolk County Council, working together to support local communities.
