The East Suffolk Councils of Suffolk Coastal and Waveney have welcomed just shy of 100 apprentices to the organisation in six years and they recently celebrated the achievements of the latest ‘in-take’ with a special graduation ceremony.
Working with the training provider, Nova Training, 14 young people completed their apprenticeship in 2018, with 10 now in full time roles within east Suffolk. This brings to 61 the number of people currently with the councils in either current apprenticeship roles or either permanent or fixed-term positions.
Many have also gone on to get higher level qualifications – in Housing, Customer Services and leadership and management and the current crop have worked across a variety of teams – from Planning and Coastal Management to Communities, HR and IT.
Our apprentice graduates this year are:
Lucy Berry, Jack Bingham, Kay Bonning-Schmitt, Laura Cook, Joe Leggett, Josh Noone, Josh Philp, Alysha Stockman, Phoebe Vokes and Tim Warnes (who all have remained with the councils). Callum Lee, Jenny Taylor Foster, Chloe Myrie and Chelsea Scott all left to take up exciting opportunities elsewhere.
As part of the ceremony, awards were also given in a range of categories including ‘Biggest Improvement’ and ‘Apprentice of the Year’ which was awarded to Lucy Berry. Lucy works in our Planning Support team and has just secured a role as a Planning Support Officer. She is also doing a level 3 qualification in business administration.
