Halloween Chills and Thrills at Landguard

Posted by on 4 September 2019 | Comments

Prepare to be spooked this Halloween - tickets have just gone on sale for this year’s scary and fun-packed events at the Landguard Peninsula in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

For children and their families, the hugely popular Landguard Spooky Day is back at Felixstowe Museum on Saturday 26 October from 12pm to 4pm. Suitable for ages 2-12 years, there is a whole afternoon of activities, including a ‘spooky’ magic show with Steff and Nonsense, crafts to make, colouring-in and quiz trails. The Museum will be decorated ‘spooky style’, and children are encouraged to come in their best fancy dress with prizes to be won. Tickets are £7.00 for children, £2.00 for adults.

Landguard Fort will also be holding a ‘Halloween-themed’ children’s trail over the
half-term week (Saturday 19 to Sunday 27 October). 10am to 5pm. Normal admission charges apply, plus £1.50 for a trail sheet. No need to book, just come along.

Dare you enter Landguard Fort after dark? For adults and young people, the scary Little Fort of Horrors is returning on Saturday 26 October, 7pm to 11pm.

A strange artefact known as the Mask of the Dead that was unearthed at the G’harne excavation site in Africa - and then mysteriously stolen - has been found in a container at the Port during a customs check. As a security measure the artefact has temporarily been moved to Landguard Fort for safe keeping before been taken to the British Museum in London. The mask was reputed to have legendary powers. The wearer could raise an army of the dead, and his enemies would grow weak and die just looking at it. The mask disappeared centuries ago until its recent discovery.

Due to the interest it has generated, for one night only, you are invited to attend a special Open Evening at Landguard Fort on Saturday 26 October - where the mask will be revealed. Entrance to the evening is by ‘timed ticket’. You can book a 10 minute arrival time slot between 7pm and 11pm.

All tickets are £12.00 per person. No admittance to anyone under 14 years of age.

Both events have limited spaces and it is recommended to book in advance
