Jointly funded by Historic England and East Suffolk Council, as part of the London Road, Lowestoft High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ), the Conservation Grant Scheme focuses on the South Lowestoft Conservation Area, in the character areas of the Harbour, London Road South and the Seafront. It includes the key commercial areas of London Road North, Station Square and London Road South. The HSHAZ is delivered through the Lowestoft Heritage Action Zones partnership which consists of East Suffolk Council, Historic England, Lowestoft Town Council, Lowestoft Vision and East Suffolk Building Preservation Trust.
The aim of the Conservation Grant Scheme is to repair and refurbish historic buildings along the high street (within the HSHAZ boundary), some of which are suffering from physical degradation, vacancy, neglect and inappropriate/unauthorised use. The scheme will fund repairs to the structure and external fabric of buildings contributing to the historic interest of the area and the reinstatement of architectural features that have been lost from historic buildings.
The supporting documents below are intended for applicants of the Shopfront Grant Scheme, to outline the process of the programme and guide applicants through the process.
