Local elections in east Suffolk

Although some local elections to councils are taking place on Thursday 3 May 2018 in the rest of the country, there will NOT be elections in Suffolk Coastal or Waveney on this day.

The two councils operate on a four-year cycle and the last district elections took place in May 2015. The next elections are due to take place in May 2019 and subject to final parliamentary approval, which is expected next month, these elections will be the first ever to the newly created East Suffolk Council.

Finally, following the resignation of Cllr Ian Pratt, district councillor for the Leiston ward in Suffolk Coastal, a separate by-election will take place, with voting for this ward, only, on May 17th 2018.
