In 2007, following consultation with the local town council, the police and public, a Designated Public Place Order (DPPO) was introduced in part of Leiston, restricting the drinking of alcohol in public places.
In August 2008, following consultation with the local town and parish councils, the police and public, Designated Public Place Orders (DPPOs) were introduced in parts of Wickham Market, Saxmundham and Kelsale-cum-Carlton, restricting the drinking of alcohol in public places.
