Leiston Leisure Centre

Leiston Leisure Centre plan

Suffolk Coastal District Council (the Council) has ambitious plans to invest in its leisure centres as part of the authority’s commitment to improving its leisure centre offer and to encourage more people to become more active.

Leiston Leisure Centre is the second in the redevelopment programme for the Council’s four leisure centres, after Deben Leisure Centre which opens in Summer 2018. The current leisure centre is no longer fit for purpose and has been identified as a priority for redevelopment.

The Council’s development partner, Pulse Fitness, have now put forward plans for the site, which the public and key stakeholders are now being asked for feedback on.

It is hoped that work will start later in 2018, with the Centre fully opened in 2019.

The plans are available in the Leiston Centre or via the links below:

The proposals include:

  • New main entrance enhancing accessibility reducing pedestrian congestion and improving the customer flow
  • New reception and cafe area with enhanced viewing facilities to the pool
  • New, high quality village wet changing facilities with parent and child cubicles to make the site more family friendly.
  • Individual wet-side changing  cubicles with showers
  • Changing Places changing facility to increase inclusivity
  • New first floor 64 station fitness suite including cardiovascular, strength, resistance and functional zones, greatly enhancing the active lifestyle feel of the building
  • Two new dance studies and a group cycling studio – which can serve as multi-use bookable rooms
  • New poolside thermal suite with sauna, steam, ice station, heated beds, feature shower and relaxation area
  • New soft play area located near to the cafe
  • Two squash courts
  • Pool room lighting upgraded to LED
  • Resurfacing of the carpark
