Following the success of a pilot event last year, older residents from the Beccles area are once again invited to an event run by local young people.
On Wednesday 4 July, local school students will be running activities and games at Beccles Free School for older members of the community. Students from Beccles Free School and the Sir John Leman High School will be running ‘Muncheon Mingle’, supported by the East Suffolk Communities Team.
Cllr Mary Rudd, Waveney District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Health and Safety said:
“Our first Muncheon Mingle was well received, with lots of older residents from Beccles and the surrounding area attending and we hope this second event will be equally as popular.
The event aims to build relationships between older and younger members of the community and helps tackle social isolation and loneliness which can be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of our older residents.”
Students from the participating schools will be providing activities - free tea and cake will also be available. Free transport is available to older residents wishing to attend - to book, please call 01502 523185.
The event takes place at Beccles Free School, Castle Hill, Beccles between 1pm and 3pm.
