East Suffolk residents are invited to have their say on a draft Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Charging Schedule which sets out the amount developers pay to fund new and improved infrastructure.
East Suffolk Council has prepared its CIL Charging Schedule which sets out the amount that certain kinds of development are required to pay to contribute to the delivery of infrastructure in the district. An East Suffolk CIL Instalments Policy has also been prepared, which allows the payment of CIL in instalments.
A formal consultation begins today (Thursday 11 November) and residents are invited to give their views. Comments received, along with the draft Charging Schedule, Instalments Policy and other supporting documentation will be submitted for independent examination expected to take place in the spring. Once adopted, these documents will replace the two separate CIL Charging Schedules and CIL Instalments Policies covering the former Suffolk Coastal and former Waveney areas.
Cllr David Ritchie, Cabinet Member for Planning and Coastal Management, said: “Provided through the provision of new housing developments, Community Infrastructure Levy helps to support essential improvements to schools, health services and community facilities, all of which enhance the lives of those living in East Suffolk.”
Comments on the draft East Suffolk CIL Charging Schedule must be submitted by 5pm on Thursday 23 December 2021.
All comments received will be considered when finalising the documents. The CIL Charging Schedule, Instalments Policy, evidence base and other supporting documentation, and all comments (in their original format) will be submitted for formal examination by an independent examiner. The examination takes place in public, and details will be available online. Any person wishing to be heard before the examiner can make such a request at the time of submitting comments.
Comments can also be emailed to email@example.com or sent to East Suffolk Council, Planning Policy and Delivery Team, Riverside, 4 Canning Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk NR33 0EQ.
