More than one way to pay at council car parks

New pay and display machines have been installed at all Waveney District Council car parks, enabling visitors to use the new £1 coin, or choose a cashless payment option.

A spokesperson for Waveney District Council said:

“Before the launch of the new £1 coin at the end of March, national figures suggested thousands of parking machines across the country were not ready to accept the new coin, especially in rural areas. However, with the introduction of new machines, Waveney has ensured that the new coin can be accepted in any council-managed car park.”

Meanwhile, the ‘RingGo’ phone and text message service allows payments to be made using a credit or debit card, rather than with cash at a machine. Payment can be made quickly and easily using the RingGo app, by text message or by calling 020 3046 0010. Details of how to use RingGo, along with the required four digit location code, can be found on car park signs.

First time users of the RingGo service will be asked to register and provide information about the vehicle, the unique location code of the car park and payment information. To save time, it is recommended that people register with the service beforehand.

RingGo customers can also extend their parking period by ‘topping up’ payments online or over the phone without needing to return to the car park. Optional reminders give a 10 minute warning before a parking time is due to expire, leaving time to either extend your stay or return to your vehicle. RingGo customers do not need to display a ticket.

Additionally, iPhone users can now benefit from a new version of the RingGo app. The latest version provides users with faster payment processing and also highlights nearby parking locations.
