The experts had their say when Felixstowe Seafront Gardens were given the prestigious Green Flag Award in July - now you can have your say with the People’s Choice Award.
The Award Scheme is asking the nation to vote for their favourite park or green space to decide which should receive the People’s Choice Award for being the UK’s favourite.
Cllr Doreen Savage, local ward member for Felixstowe and Chairman of the Friends of the Seafront Gardens, said:
“Felixstowe Seafront Gardens have become a firm favourite amongst residents and visitors alike since the restoration work was completed in December 2016.
“Everyone enjoys the beautiful gardens that have been created and they are now an important part of the tourist offer in Felixstowe.
“As Chairman of the Friends of the Seafront Gardens, a group of dedicated and industrious volunteer gardeners who contribute their time and expertise to maintain the gardens and keep them looking their best, I am very proud to be connected in some small way to this work.
“My particular favourite amongst the gardens are those alongside the Town Hall which creates a vista of pure joy to the eye at any time of the year. That said, wherever you are in the Seafront Gardens, they are a joy to behold.”
Whether you enjoy visiting a park or green space to play football, walk the dog, exercise or simply get away from the hustle and bustle, you need to vote if you think your favourite deserves to be in the top 10 People’s Choice.
All you have to do to vote is go to the Green Flag Award website, find your favourite park on the winners map and click the voting button. Voting is open from 1 September to 30 September.
If you want to encourage others to get involved via social media, why not use the hashtag #PeoplesChoice?
Paul Tood, Green Flag Award Manager, said:
“This year 1883 parks and green spaces met the tough standards demanded by our Green Flag Award judges, but we want to know which park the public loves the most.
“The People’s Choice award is a chance to show much your favourite park means to you. If it’s worth shouting about, make your voice heard and vote now.”
Paul Rabbitts, Head of Parks, Open Spaces and Projects, whose Cassiobury Park was among the top 10 winners last year, said:
“Cassiobury Park is often referred to as the jewel in our crown here in Watford.
“We are immensely proud of it and we truly believe it is one of the finest parks in the country and are delighted it was voted as one of the top ten parks last year. We will certainly be hoping it is as popular again this year.”
