Following a positive referendum, Waveney District Council, at its Full Council meeting on 25January 2017, resolved to ‘make’ the Kessingland Neighbourhood Plan (link to attached file). The Neighbourhood Plan now forms part of the Development Plan for the District.
A Neighbourhood Planning Referendum was held for the Kessingland Neighbourhood Plan on 24 November 2016. The question asked was ‘Do you want Waveney District Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Kessingland to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?’.
854 votes were cast in favour of 'Yes' and 103 in favour of 'No'. The turnout was 28%.
Worlingham Parish Council has submitted a Neighbourhood Area application. Before deciding on the suitability of the area, Waveney District Council would like to hear your views on the proposed Worlingham Neighbourhood Area.
Henstead with Hulver Street Neighbourhood Area, Mutford Neighbourhood Area and Lound with Ashby, Herringfleet and Somerleyton Neighbourhood Area have all been approved.
The Parish Councils applied to the Council to designate a ‘Neighbourhood Area’, which shows the area that will be covered by the Neighbourhood Plan. All were approved on 14 September 2016.

We have published a summary of all the responses received, including details of additional sites submitted during the consultation.
We are currently drawing up the first draft plan, which will be published for consultation in April / May 2017. We will be in contact nearer the time to let you know more details.
Setting out the Council’s vision for cycling in Waveney.
The Waveney Cycle Strategy identifies existing issues and puts forward potential improvements to the cycle network with the aim of encouraging more people to cycle. The document also provides supporting information about issues such as design that should be taken into account when planning proposals are being prepared and determined.

The above Parish Councils have submitted applications to designate Neighbourhood Areas for the purposes of producing Neighbourhood Plans. The Neighbourhood Development Plan is a way for the Parish Councils to help shape how the community develops over the coming years. This is not a formal consultation on the Neighbourhood Development Plan itself, but whether this is a suitable area for the plan to cover.
Before deciding on the suitability of the proposed Neighbourhood Areas, Waveney District Council would like to hear your views.
Between 22 April and 17 June, Options for the new Waveney Local Plan were published for consultation.
Comments made at this stage will inform the First Draft of the Local Plan which is expected to be published late Spring 2017.
