New Waveney Local Plan

Waveney District Council is preparing a new Local Plan for the District (excluding the Broads Authority area). The new Local Plan will review and update our existing Local Plan (Local Development Framework).

Unlike the existing Local Plan, which is split across four separate documents, the new Local Plan will be just one document containing all the planning policies and proposed development sites in the District.

Sites for future development

We are currently assessing all the sites submitted so far and will publish the 'preferred options' as part of the First Draft Local Plan in July 2017.

There will be another opportunity to submit additional sites, that may be suitable for development, as part of consultation on the First Draft Local Plan in July 2017.

The Issues and Options sites map contains all sites published during the initial consultation in April 2016.

Timetable for the Local Plan

  • September 2015 to June 2016 - Issues and Options
  • July 2017 - First draft (preferred options)
  • October/November 2017 - Final draft
  • December 2017 - Submission for examination
  • February/March 2018 - Examination hearing
  • April 2018 - Inspector’s report
  • May 2018 - Adoption
  • For further details see the Local Development Scheme

How to get involved

The Statement of Community Involvement sets out how and when people can have their say on planning policies and planning applications.

The next opportunity to get involved in the new Local Plan is a period of public consultation on the first draft plan, which is scheduled for July 2017. You can join the Local Plan mailing list to receive notification of when the first draft plan is published and you can have your say.
