Waveney District Council is preparing a new Local Plan for the District (excluding the Broads Authority area). The new Local Plan will review and update our existing Local Plan (Local Development Framework).
Unlike the existing Local Plan, which is split across four separate documents, the new Local Plan will be just one document containing all the planning policies and proposed development sites in the District.
We are currently preparing the 'preferred options' which will be published as the First Draft Local Plan in July 2017. The Local Plan will set out the level of growth (including new housing, employment, retail and community uses) which needs to be planned in Waveney up to 2036. The Plan also sets out the planning policies which the Council will use to determine planning applications.
The Council’s Cabinet considered the First Draft Local Plan at its meeting on 12 July 2017 and agreed that the draft plan can be published for public consultation. The consultation will run from Friday 28 July until Friday 22 September 2017.
The next opportunity to get involved in the new Local Plan is during the public consultation on the first draft plan, between 28 July and 22 September 2017. The next opportunity to get involved in the new Local Plan is during the public consultation on the first draft plan, which is scheduled for July 2017. A number of public exhibitions will be held across the district during the consultation period and dates will be published at the start of the consultation.
The Statement of Community Involvement sets out how and when people can have their say on planning policies and planning applications.
