Waveney Local Plan

The Waveney Local Plan was adopted on 20 March 2019. It applies to the part of East Suffolk formerly covered by the Waveney local planning authority area.

The Local Plan sets out how the area should be developed and is the starting point when making decisions on planning applications within that part of the District.

The Local Plan supersedes the former Local Development Framework Development Plan Documents. However, Supplementary Planning Documents have been retained.

A number of monitoring documents, such as the Authority Monitoring Report, 5 Year Housing Land Supply Statement and other monitoring documents review the policies and delivery of proposals in the Local Plan.

The Statement of Community Involvement sets out how and when people can have their say on planning policies and planning applications. In light of current social distancing restrictions as the result of Covid-19, certain elements of the Statement of Community Involvement have been temporarily suspended. Further detail can be found on the Covid-19 Planning and Building Control updates page.

The Local Development Scheme sets out the timetable for the Local Plan preparation.

Development is also guided by the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and Planning Practice GuidanceNeighbourhood Plans, once made, also form part of the development plan. In addition, the Broads Local Plan covers the Broads Authority area of the District.
