|Changes or delays to scheduled waste collections|
After a further round of negotiations, facilitated by ACAS, we are pleased to confirm that industrial action has been suspended and that staff will now be balloted on the proposals presented to them.
The Council has always been determined to agree a solution that works for all parties, and in difficult financial circumstances, is hopeful that this offer will be accepted.
Collections may still be disrupted however customers are again asked to leave their bins out as normal.
Please ensure your bin is always out by 6.00am as collection times can change at any time for various reasons. All bin collections are scheduled as normal on bank holidays, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day - please check the East Suffolk Council social channel for the latest updates.
The collection service gives residents alternate fortnightly collections of recyclable materials and general household waste that cannot be recycled.
Additional blue bins are available for a one-off fee, to cover the purchase of the bin.
Additional black bins are only available to households of 6 or more and for those with a genuine medical condition that produce excess waste. Proof must be provided and if eligible they can have an additional blue too. There is no charge for these bins.
In Suffolk, mixed recycling is collected and taken to the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) at Great Blakenham in Suffolk, for separation and baling. Find out more about what happens at the Great Blakenham Materials Recycling Facility.
