Come and visit Landguard Fort at Felixstowe this Sunday 3 July for Darell’s Day - the annual celebration of the formation of the Royal Marines.
In conjunction with the Landguard Fort Trust, the East Anglian Royal Marines will present an array of displays and side shows, showing the development of the modern day Marines from the original formation following Captain Nathaniel Darell's magnificent defeat of the Dutch in 1667 (as part of the Dutch Wars) to our modern fighting machine that is today's Royal Marines.
Displays include a GI 41/45 group, a Home Guard camp, the Royal Marines Reserve, and competitions for the cadets. Also, available will be a manned air rifle range, living history displays, a raffle and an opportunity to meet the veterans.
Doors open at 10am, and close at 5pm. You need to take your seats by 11am for the start of the main events. There will be a chance to purchase Royal Marine and Fort merchandise, plus food and an all-day bar.
Darell’s Day offers plenty of great and unique photo opportunities!
