Teams are to begin removing green bins from households which have not subscribed to the garden waste scheme.
This will be undertaken on a phased basis across the district, from next Monday May 9th. Hangers are being attached to bins, and will continue to be, a week ahead of the proposed removal date from each location.
If the garden waste collection service is not required, households are being asked to put out their unwanted bin on their normal collection day and re-use the bin hanger, by attaching it so that the Red "X" is clearly visible to the removal crews. Households who have already signed up have no need to display the hanger and need take no action.
The retrieval of unwanted green bins is a large operational exercise and is expected to take around 8 weeks in total - hangers will be attached to bins throughout the district the week before they are due to be removed from each location.
However, if households still wish to sign-up, it couldn't be simpler to join the scheme. Residents can join the scheme at any time and will only be charged a 'pro-rata' proportion of the annual £42 charge for the rest of the year.
