A free ‘give and take’ day is taking place in Lowestoft on Monday 24 July.
The event gives local residents the opportunity to donate unwanted items or collect something new for free.
Donations of good quality unwanted household items are welcome at Whitton Residents Hall, Hawthorn Avenue, Lowestoft, NR33 9BB between 9am and 11am on Monday. Anyone wishing to pick up free items is welcome to attend the event between 11am and 3pm (and can drop off their own unwanted items at the same time).
Accepted items include small electrical items (such as kettles, vacuum cleaners, TVs, irons and tools), furniture (with attached fire label if upholstered), bicycles, textiles (excluding pillows, cushions, duvets or carpets), books, toys and games.
All items need to be in good condition. Electrical items will be PAT safety tested before being placed out for reuse.
The event is organised by Waveney District Council, Waveney Norse and the East Suffolk Greenprint Forum and aims to encourage recycling and reuse rather than disposing of unwanted items.
Any items left at the end of the day will be donated to the Benjamin Foundation.
A limited number of items can be taken away per person and the event is for households only, rather than businesses. Donated items should be able to fit into a family car.
