Following the success of similar intergenerational events held in East Suffolk, older residents from the Beccles area are invited to an event run by local young people.
On Wednesday 12 December, students from Beccles Free School and the Sir John Leman High School will be holding a Christmas Muncheon Mingle event, providing activities, performances and crafts for older members of the local community.
Cllr Mary Rudd, Waveney District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Health and Safety said: “Social isolation and loneliness can be a real issue for older people, particularly at Christmas. Previous intergenerational events have been a great success and offer an opportunity for older residents to get together and meet with friends, as well as enjoy the activities kindly provided by the students.”
The event, supported by the East Suffolk Communities Team, takes place at the Beccles Free School, Castle Hill, Beccles between 1pm and 3pm. Free refreshments will be available.
The East Suffolk Communities Team comprises officers from Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils and Suffolk County Council, working together to support local communities.
