Digital Champions

Residents who need extra support to use online services can now receive help from East Suffolk Council’s dedicated Digital Champions.

An increasing number of East Suffolk residents now use the council’s online services to report issues, make payments and find out information.

However, we know that some customers have difficulty using online or telephone services. Our Customer Services team are available to help in person at the Marina Centre in Lowestoft and at desks within local libraries, by appointment.

Within this team, our fully-trained Digital Champions are available to provide support, to help you get online and use these services yourself.

You can find out more information about what Digital Champions are by watching this short informational Digital Champions video.

What Services we offer

Our Digital Champions can help with:

  • renewing garden waste service subscriptions
  • keeping up to date with your Council Tax
  • paying for a parking permit
  • viewing planning applications

We also provide help with non-council related services such as:

  • setting up a new device
  • setting up online accounts
  • creating and using a new email
  • getting set up with online food shopping
  • accessing medical services
  • and more…

Good news stories from the team

A customer said: “I am most grateful to you for your help and never knew this service existed until I saw it in your magazine. I didn’t know where to go for help, this has been a huge relief and the QR code will help me when I go on holiday as so many restaurants use these now for ordering, so thank you!”

A Digital Champion said: “Recently, I digitally assisted a customer at the Marina Customer Services Centre where I showed them how to bid with Gateway to Homechoice. They were struggling to log in, so I assisted them with resetting their password and then, once we were logged in, I helped them with how to find properties and how to use the Gateway to Homechoice website in the future.
