The Take Out Eat Well scheme recognises the work of fast food businesses operating in Suffolk who are making it easier for customers to make healthier choices when eating food on the go. The award covers:
Take Out Eat Well sits alongside the existing Eat Out Eat Well scheme (which works with the owners of restaurants cafes and staff eateries). With Take Out Eat Well, we want to support businesses serving fast food to make it easier for their customers to buy healthier options.
Business owners work our Food and Safety team to make changes to the types of ingredients they buy, how they prepare dishes and how food is promoted to customers. There is an emphasis on using less fat, sugar and salt, offering reduced portions, making healthier menu swaps and encouraging staff training.
A business’s food hygiene rating and compliance with food legislation is also taken into account.
