Under the Gambling Act 2005 local authorities became responsible for the licensing of gambling premises. You can find out more about the role of local licensing authorities on the Gambling Commission website.
Under the Act, local licensing authorities are required to consult upon and publish a statement of principles which they will apply when exercising their licensing functions. The statement forms a fundamental part of the decision making process for all applications made under the Act.
