On 22 July 2020 the Business and Planning Act 2020 came into force. This Act allows businesses from the hospitality trade to apply for a Temporary Pavement Licence for the placing of tables and chairs on the pavement in front of the premises, for the purposes of consumption of food and drink served from the premises.
On 20 July 2021 The Business and Planning Act 2020 (Pavement Licences) (Coronavirus) (Amendment) Regulations 2021 came into force which permits a further year for a Temporary Pavement Licence under this fast-track scheme.
