In December 2022, 2500 tonnes of Cornish granite was placed at the base of the cliffs in front of Arbor Lane. The rock provides a resilience approach, using a short-term stockpile that will temporarily help reduce the erosion to an important access road.
Shoreline Management Plans (SMP) identify the most sustainable approach for managing the risk from coastal flooding and erosion over the short (0 to 20 years), medium (20 to 50 years) and long (50 to 100) term around our coast. Monitoring
The cliff erosion and beach conditions are currently relatively stable. Regular monitoring of the Pakefield coast continues to take place on an ongoing basis, with physical inspections and drone surveys scheduled monthly throughout the summer.
