  • Repairs and Maintenance

The Coastal Management Service carries out a comprehensive programme of inspections which highlight when repair and maintenance works need to be carried out. This ensures that the defences are functioning correctly, extends the life of the assets and protects the public from potential hazards. We maintain structures such as groynes, revetments, promenades, seawalls, beaches and rock armour. We set out the work required and then appoint and manage the contractors.

  • Dangerous structures and demolitions

Buildings become dangerous for many reasons e.g. age, deterioration, settlement, impact by vehicles, explosion or fire damage. Other dangers can come from loose masonry or slates and unstable garden boundary walls. We operate an emergency service and officers are available 24 hours a day to deal with any situation which may arise. Working closely with the emergency services, the surveyor will act upon information received.
