  • Trees on development sites

    On sites where there are trees subject to preservation orders, within conservation areas or where there are important amenity, landscape, landmark or heritage trees, a tree survey (location, species, dimensions) and tree condition report incorporating BS 5837:2012 Trees in relation to design, demolition and construction will be required when an application for planning permission is made.

  • Bird Flu and wild bird surveillance

    Avian Influenza reporting

    Defra has launched a new online reporting system to be used by the public to report dead wild birds as part of the Government's response to the ongoing avian influenza outbreak. The new online system will be available 24/7 and the public is being urged to use the new online reporting system or call the Defra helpline on 03459 33 55 77 if they find one or more dead birds of prey such as an owl, hawk or buzzard, three or more dead birds that include at least one gull, swan, goose or duck or five or more dead wild birds of any species.

    Planning application process

    The most efficient way to submit a planning application is by using the online service from the Planning Portal, however, you can alternatively submit your application by post or email using downloadable forms. For the modification and discharge of planning obligations, please use our Modification and discharge of planning obligations application form. These forms can be submitted by email or post to our Planning team.

    What is Legionella?

    Legionella is a type of bacteria that is common in natural water sources like lakes and rivers. It can become a health problem when it grows and multiplies in systems like showerheads, taps, hot water tanks and heaters if the conditions are favourable. People can contract Legionnaires disease, which is a form of pneumonia, when they breath in small droplets of water in the air that contain the Legionella bacteria.
