East Suffolk Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
Making your device easier to use

Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to [the non-compliance(s)] [and/or] [the exemptions] listed below.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents
Many of our older PDFs and other documents may not be suitable for users of assistive technology. This fails WCAG 2.2 level AA success criterion 4.1.2 Name, Role Value.
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we don’t plan to fix old PDF newsletters that might still be published and accessed through our website.
Video
Some pre-recorded videos published before 23 September 2020 do not include captions. This fails WCAG 2.2 level AA success criteria 1.2.2 Captions (Pre-recorded). We may not add captions to these videos because pre-recorded video published before 23 September 2020 is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
Some pre-recorded videos published before 23 September 2020 may require, but don't include, audio description. This fails WCAG 2.2 level AA success criteria 1.2.5 Audio Description (Pre-recorded). We may not add audio description to these videos because pre-recorded video published before 23 September 2020 is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
Any pre-recorded video content we publish after 23 September 2020 will meet accessibility standards.
Online forms (My East Suffolk)
The 'Submit' button on our online forms does not have sufficient colour contrast when the keyboard tabs onto it or the mouse hovers over it and there is poor colour contrast when the keyboard tabs onto, or the mouse hovers over, links in the footer of the webpage. This fails WCAG 2.2 level AA success criteria 1.4.3 Contrast (minimum). We plan to fix this issue by the end of May 2026.
Council meeting documents within CMIS
Some previous meeting papers (agendas, minutes etc) held in our CMIS system do not have a title in the settings of the PDF. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 2.4.2 Page titled. We are not able to fix this issue for historic documents but all meeting papers published after April 2026 will have a title property set.
Some previous meeting papers (agendas, minutes etc) held in our CMIS system do not have a language in the settings of the PDF. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 3.1.1 Language of page. We are not able to fix this issue for historic documents but all meeting papers published after April 2026 will have a title property set.
Some tables in meeting documents may not have correctly marked up headers. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 1.3.1 Info and Relationships: Tables. We are not able to fix this issue for historic documents but we are working to implement a procedure to ensure that future documents are marked up correctly. We plan to fix this issue by the end of December 2026.
Logos within meeting documents do not have alternative text. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 1.1.1 Non-text content. We plan to fix this issue by the end of May 2026.
Maps
Online maps and mapping services are exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
