We want to ensure that everyone can access our housing services fairly and easily. This consultation gives tenants the opportunity to share their views on how we identify, record and provide reasonable adjustments to support people with disabilities, health conditions, communication needs or other circumstances that may make it more difficult to access services.
What is a reasonable adjustment?
A reasonable adjustment is a change to the way we provide information or deliver services to help remove barriers and make services more accessible. Examples may include providing information in alternative formats, using different communication methods, offering additional support, or making flexible arrangements for appointments and service delivery.
Why we are developing this policy
The proposed policy sets out how East Suffolk Council Housing will:
- identify when a reasonable adjustment may be needed
- consider requests for reasonable adjustments
- record and review agreed adjustments
- ensure adjustments are delivered consistently
- protect and appropriately manage information about adjustment needs
- provide accessible and inclusive housing services for all tenants and residents.
Have your say
We want this policy to reflect the needs and experiences of the people who use our services.
Your feedback will help us understand whether the proposed policy is clear, accessible and practical, and whether there are any improvements we should make before the policy is finalised. We welcome feedback from all tenants, including those who have a disability, health condition, communication need or other circumstance that may affect how they access our services. This feedback will help us ensure that the final policy supports fair and accessible housing services for everyone.
Take part in our Reasonable Adjustments Policy consultation survey
The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
As a thank you for taking part, tenants who choose to provide their contact details will be entered into a prize draw to win a £25 Love2shop Voucher. You can still complete the survey anonymously if you prefer, although you will not be entered into the prize draw.
Why your views matter
Your feedback will help shape the final Reasonable Adjustments Policy and ensure it reflects the needs and expectations of tenants. This will help us provide housing services that are accessible, responsive and centred on the needs of residents.
What happens next?
Once the consultation closes:
- we will review all feedback received
- the findings will help inform the final Reasonable Adjustments Policy
- we will consider any suggested improvements
- we will share the consultation outcomes and explain how tenant feedback influenced the final policy.
