East Suffolk Council is looking to regenerate the brownfield site behind North Quay Retail Park off Barnards Way in Lowestoft, and we are inviting local people to view, and comment on, proposals for seven new light industrial units, prior to the submission of a Planning Application.
The purpose of this development is to provide modern premises for East Suffolk Council’s Housing Maintenance Scheme and local companies, and to attract businesses to Lowestoft. It incorporates a range of unit sizes, to appeal to both start-up and more established businesses.
The proposals for the site, include the creation of industrial units arranged in three separate blocks with car parking, cycle storage and waste collection. The Council’s Housing Maintenance Team would relocate and occupy the north of the site, with the six units to the south proposed for business use.
The existing site has been unoccupied for many years, and the proposed development follows the site designation within the local plan. The site will be redeveloped to include landscaping, contemporary industrial units and internal estate roads for access purposes.
The Council believes that this is an exciting development opportunity to create new light industrial space in Lowestoft. The town is already attracting investment and these new units would support economic growth as well as providing new employment opportunities.
This is your opportunity to comment on the proposals.
You can send any correspondence to us ahead of its submission for planning consent, with a closing date of 5pm on 14th June 2024.
