Members of the Beccles, Bungay and Halesworth communities will be able to chat with local stakeholders in new ‘pop along’ events beginning this week.
The events will take place in the libraries in the three market towns and will enable residents to chat with a local councillor, an officer from East Suffolk Council’s Communities Team and a representative from a local organisation.
The events will be a chance to have a chat in person and find out more about what is happening locally regarding groups, events and projects. The ‘pop along’ events will repeat monthly and will run as a drop-in over two hours.
The first ‘pop along’ will take place in Bungay on Tuesday 1 February at Bungay Library, between 10am and 12pm. East Suffolk ward councillor and Suffolk County Councillor Judy Cloke, Communities Officer Sam Kenward and Phil Love from Suffolk Family Carers will be in attendance.
Suffolk Family Carers will be promoting Connected Communities; a project aimed at reducing social isolation and deliver community-based services for those over 65 years old. Bungay pop along events will run on the first Tuesday of each month thereafter.
Cllr Letitia Smith, East Suffolk’s cabinet member for Communities, Leisure and Tourism said: “These new events are an ideal opportunity for people in the Beccles, Bungay and Halesworth areas to learn more about the wide range of services available to them locally, and to speak in person to representatives from local organisations.”
The Halesworth pop along events will run on the third Tuesday of each month, starting on Tuesday 15 February at Halesworth Library (10am -12pm), whilst the Beccles events will run on the second Wednesday of each month, starting on Wednesday 9 February at Beccles Library (10am – 12pm).
