A new grant scheme which aims to boost community engagement, collaboration and connectivity is being promoted to community groups, charities and organisations in central East Suffolk.
Grants up to £500 are available through East Suffolk Council’s Beccles, Bungay, Halesworth and surrounding villages Community Partnership to support groups which are delivering projects that look to pilot new ideas, develop relationships, or enhance existing initiatives.
Developed in response to the Community Partnership’s priorities to tackle social isolation and loneliness, increase engagement and community connections as well as enhancing wellbeing, improving access and inclusion to the natural environment and heritage assets, the grants are open to community, voluntary, and faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) organisations, as well as town and parish councils.
Cllr Caroline Topping, Leader of East Suffolk Council and Chair of the Beccles, Bungay, Halesworth and Surrounding Villages Community Partnership, said:
“By launching this grant, we are trying to reach smaller organisations who wouldn’t qualify for the bigger grants. We are proud to launch the Connecting and Engaging Communities Small Grants Scheme, and we hope to receive some innovative and engaging projects that will tackle our local priorities around social isolation and improving physical and mental health, and wellbeing.”
Applications are open from Wednesday 22 July until 9am on Monday 7 September. Following the deadline, applications will be reviewed by a dedicated grant panel.
