East Suffolk Council has this week (Tuesday 17 March) opened a new Community Hub, making it easier for the most vulnerable residents to access frontline support.
Operating from a newly renovated office in Rishton House, Lowestoft, the Community Hub, is home to the community hub officers who offer face to face support to residents.
Open from Tuesday to Thursday from 10am to 3pm, the service enables and if required supports residents to access online services, mental and physical health services, housing services, employment, education or training services, as well as giving advice on money, benefits and anything relating to the cost of living.
The team say, “No appointment is necessary, no question too big, too small or too silly, just call in and we will try and find the answer to your question.”
Cllr Sarah Whitelock, cabinet member for Communities, Culture, Leisure and Tourism, said:
“We’re proud to see our Community Help Hub now open, we wanted to create a welcoming space to help increase people’s confidence, trust and understanding of the wide range of services that are available. By using the supported access model, we want to be the bridge to connect people with a host of services to make it easier for people to access to the tools, information and support they really need.
“We believe no one should face life’s challenges alone – especially as social isolation and loneliness is growing in this area. Our community hub officers work with individuals on anything from housing, money, health or employment issues, to helping people to strengthen their social networks and family bonds. We’re open three days a week and together we’ll create personalised plans that are designed to make a lasting difference to people’s lives.”
