An award-winning holiday programme for children living in East Suffolk is set to return to Sutton Heath this July.
Operation Camouflage, which has been running at Sutton Heath near Woodbridge since 2008, will return from Tuesday 21 July and invites children to enjoy a wide range of engaging activities that combine sport, creativity and outdoor adventure in a safe and supportive environment.
Open to children aged 8 to 16 who live or go to school in East Suffolk, the programme is delivered in partnership by East Suffolk Council through the Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF), the Army Welfare Service and Just42.
Cllr Sarah Whitelock, East Suffolk’s cabinet member for Communities, Culture, Leisure and Tourism said:
“The countdown is on for the start of Operation Camouflage, and we’re excited to give children in East Suffolk another summer of fun.
“This year we’ve added lots of new activities for children to try from paddleboarding and kayaking to creative arts and bushcraft, helping to build confidence and gain new skills. And each day children will enjoy healthy meals to keep them energised and ready to make the most of every activity.
“Thank you to the Army Welfare Service for helping us deliver such a varied and engaging programme. It’s a joy to see the smiles on the children’s faces and the friendships they build in this safe and supportive environment.”
Running until Thursday 13 August, sessions run from Tuesday to Thursday from 10am to 3.15pm, with activities including:
• Sports such as cycling, athletics, tag rugby, and table tennis
• Creative sessions including arts and crafts, street dance, and themed workshops
• Outdoor adventures at Sutton Hoo Farm, including kayaking, paddleboarding, raft building and bushcraft
• Team challenges such as ‘It’s a Knockout!’ and capture the flag.
Free places are available to children that are eligible for free school meals in East Suffolk. Children from military families in the Woodbridge area are also eligible for discounted rates of £10 per day, with children who attend Just42 able to attend for £14.50. Limited spaces are also available to other children at a cost of £27.50 per day.
Participants and parents are encouraged to check the latest activity updates before booking, as sessions may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances, with themes remaining consistent.
Bookings are now open for all including those that are eligible for free school meals, military and Just42 discount.
