More than 1,500 young people explored future opportunities at the Festival of Careers on Friday 20 March, where they met over 90 employers from across the district.
Hosted at East Coast College in Lowestoft, the event gave young people a chance to discover the wide range of careers available locally and speak directly with professionals from a variety of sectors.
Councillors Sarah Whitelock and Tom Daly attended the event, which is organised by East Suffolk Council in partnership with MENTA and East Coast College.
Building on the success of last year's inaugural event, this year’s Festival of Careers was bigger and better, demonstrating the commitment across the district in providing young people with support to choose their future pathways.
Cllrs Sarah Whitelock, cabinet member for Communities, Culture, Leisure and Tourism and Cllr Tom Daly, cabinet member for Energy and Climate Change, said in a joint statement:
“The Festival of Careers is a fantastic opportunity for young people to meet employers face-to-face and gain real insight into the world of work. We are proud to support our young people to achieve a better and brighter future, and I look forward to seeing what next year's event will bring.”
The Festival of Careers is funded by East Suffolk Council and brings together businesses, educators, and support organisations, making it easier than ever for local young people to get advice, ask questions and spark new ambitions.
