As part of a programme of improvements to play spaces across East Suffolk, residents are being asked to vote for their favourite designs for three play areas in the district.
Play areas at Dale End in Gisleham, Newnham Avenue in Woodbridge and Staplehurst in Carlton Colville will be improved this year by East Suffolk Council, as part of the Council’s Play Strategy 2023 – 2027.
In December residents and organisations were invited to take part in surveys to share their ideas for the new play areas and suggest what equipment they would like them to feature. Following the public’s input, play equipment providers have come up with 13 design proposals for the public to consider and share their thoughts on.
Nicole Rickard, Head of Communities and Leisure at East Suffolk Council, said:
“Play areas are vital, free, and joyful community hubs for families across our district so it was important to us that the public were involved throughout the process of upgrading these spaces.
“We are dedicated to providing interesting and inclusive equipment that ensures children of all ages and abilities can play safely, learn confidently and - most importantly - have fun. We’d like to thank the public for their input so far. We’re now looking for people to share their thoughts on the exciting designs that have been put forward. We’d love to hear from as many as people as possible - as your thoughts will help shape our new play areas and ensure they reflect what local residents – particularly local children - want.”
Members of the public can choose their favourite play area designs online.
The public can take part in the consultation until Friday 17 April.
Following the public’s feedback, the council will confirm the final designs and begin preparations for work to start on the new play areas, with works planned to be completed this summer.
