People living in Little Bealings are being encouraged to share their thoughts on plans for guiding future local development, conservation and land use.
East Suffolk Council is currently inviting comments from residents on a new Neighbourhood Plan for the village.
The plan has been drafted by Little Bealings Parish Council and submitted to the planning authority for publication ahead of independent examination.
If adopted, the Neighbourhood Plan will become part of wider policy used in determining planning applications and appeals – helping to shape where development may go, and what it may look like.
East Suffolk Council cabinet member for Planning and Coastal Management, Cllr Mark Packard said:
“A Neighbourhood Plan gives communities a chance to set out a vision for future development by identifying local needs and aspirations. It will eventually sit alongside the Local Plan and be used, along with any other material considerations, to inform future planning decisions.
“I would encourage people to see the plan for themselves and let us know what they think before the next stage of the process.”
Residents can view the Neighbourhood Plan and submit responses online or in person.
Little Bealings Neighbourhood Plan
Hard copies are available to view during normal opening hours at Kesgrave Library and East Suffolk Customer Service Centre at Woodbridge Library.
Representations will be forwarded to examiners for consideration alongside the plan. Subject to successfully completing all the relevant regulatory stages, the policies and proposals contained in the plan will be used by East Suffolk Council in determining planning applications within the Little Bealings Neighbourhood Area.
Alternatively, comments can be emailed to planningpolicy@eastsuffolk.gov.uk or posted to East Suffolk Council, Planning Policy and Delivery Team (Neighbourhood Plans), Riverside, 4 Canning Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk NR33 0EQ.
All representations should be headed ‘Little Bealings Neighbourhood Plan’ as the subject. Please ensure to clearly state where representations relate to a particular paragraph or policy.
You can also request to be kept updated on East Suffolk Council’s decision whether to accept the examiner’s recommendation, as well as future progress with the plan.
Representations must be received no later than 5pm on Wednesday 26 August 2026. All representations will be made available to view online as soon as possible after the close of the consultation.
