Work is underway on the refurbishment of a popular play area in Carlton Colville.
The Matlock Dale play area is undergoing work as part of a joint improvement programme between East Suffolk Council and Carlton Colville Town Council.
Last summer, local youngsters were consulted on the type of play equipment they would like to see installed at the site.
Suppliers were then asked to incorporate the ideas into applications to carry out the refurbishment, with playground design company and equipment provider Sutcliffe Play Ltd chosen for the job.
All existing apparatus within a fenced area of the play space will be removed and replaced with new equipment, aimed at toddlers and juniors.
There will be a castle theme throughout the play area, with the installation of two climbing units and new swings for all ages, including a cobra swing for groups of young people to use.
Work should be complete in time for spring.
Cllr Letitia Smith, East Suffolk Council's cabinet member for Communities, Leisure and Tourism, said:
“It’s great to know that work has started on improving this well-used local play space for children and families.
“The new-look space will provide modern equipment for children of all abilities to play together – and I’m delighted that local youngsters were able to influence the final design.”
Peter Faulkner, area sales manager for Sutcliffe Play Ltd, said:
“We are proud to partner with East Suffolk Council, making a difference to playing facilities in Carlton Colville.
“We are looking forward to seeing the finished installation being enjoyed by the local community and families.”
