A pair of East Suffolk Councillors have provided funding to a volunteer group at Dip Farm, Gunton.
Councillors George King and Graham Parker, ward members for Gunton and St Margaret’s, have used money from their Enabling Communities Budget’s to support ongoing conservation efforts by passionate volunteer group, ‘The Friends of Dip Farm’.
The aim of the funding is to assist the group with their regeneration and maintenance work at Dip Farm.
An allocation of £1,818 from each councillor's budget has funded a volunteer hut and secure storage area at the site.
The funding will contribute towards the group’s efforts to create a beautiful and peaceful space for the public to enjoy, and to the continuous conservation of the wildlife native to the land.
Cllr Graham Parker, ward member for Gunton and St Margarets, praised the dedication of the Friends of Dip Farm, saying:
"The incredible efforts of this group have ensured that Dip Farm remains a sanctuary for both nature and the community. Their work not only preserves the natural beauty and wildlife in the area but also creates a welcoming space for residents to come together, relax and participate in events. We are delighted to help with this new facility, which will make their vital work easier and more efficient."
Marion Trowbridge, a volunteer from Friends of Dip Farm, said:
“We’re delighted to have received over £3,600 from the East Suffolk Enabling Communities Budget to help us preserve what we enjoy about our area, to promote the environmental impact of our efforts and encourage volunteering in our lovely space. We offer membership with regular newsletters and invitations to special events, and welcome new volunteers to join us in preserving this local treasure for many years to come.”
