Find out more about Community Partnership
Local residents and community groups can find out more about the work of their local East Suffolk Community Partnership at a showcase event taking place later this month.
The Beccles, Bungay and Halesworth and villages Community Partnership is hosting an event on Saturday 21 May between 11am and 1pm at Bungay Community Centre.
The Community Partnership is one of eight in East Suffolk; each Community Partnership comprises community and voluntary organisations, district councillors and town/parish councils. The group commissions and delivers projects and initiatives that meet its priorities; reducing social isolation for all and improving physical and mental health and wellbeing.
The free showcase event is an opportunity for members of the public, local community groups and businesses to meet members of the Community Partnership and hear more about projects that have been supported.
There will also be a demonstration from a local singing group, Singing with Friends at 12.10pm, a group which has previously benefitted from funding through the Community Partnership’s Small Grants Scheme.
Other organisations which have benefitted from Community Partnership funding, as well as partner organisations, will be present to promote local events and activities.
Cllr Judy Cloke, East Suffolk ward councillor for Bungay and Wainford and Chair of the Beccles, Bungay, Halesworth and villages Community Partnership, said: “Much of the hard work undertaken by the Community Partnership goes on ‘behind the scenes’ and so this event will give local people an insight into our work, as well as highlighting the invaluable work being carried out locally by voluntary and community groups. The event is open to all and we look forward to welcoming everyone.”

About Community Partnerships
During the consultation on forming the new East Suffolk Council, a challenge was identified around the decreased number of councillors covering larger geographical areas, more town and parish councils, more people, and staying connected to local residents.
As a result, the East Suffolk Community Partnerships were established through a programme of stakeholder workshops in October and November 2019 as an innovative new way for the council, partners, and communities to work together to ‘bring ideas to life’ by taking a solution focused approach to local priorities.
There are eight Community Partnerships, based on natural grouping of communities, using the new East Suffolk Council ward boundaries as the ‘building blocks’:
- Aldeburgh, Leiston, Saxmundham and villages
- Beccles, Bungay, Halesworth and villages
- Carlton, Colville, Kessingland, Southwold and villages
- Felixstowe Peninsula
- Framlingham, Wickham Market and villages
- Kesgrave, Rushmere St Andrew, Martlesham, Carlford and Fynn Valley Community Partnership
- Lowestoft and northern parishes
- Melton, Woodbridge and Deben Peninsula
