Following two years of design and planning work, a new development in the heart of Lowestoft’s PowerPark is taking a vital step forward as demolition gets underway this week.
Demolition work has begun on the site for The Nexus – a new industrial development on Newcombe Road.
Two disused industrial buildings which currently occupy the site will be demolished and the site will then be redeveloped to provide 16 purpose-built contemporary business units of varying sizes, ranging between 35m2 and 225 m2. The site will also be landscaped, and internal estate roads will be created.
Once complete, it is hoped that The Nexus will become a natural hub for clean energy companies, appealing to both start-up and more established businesses.
Cllr Toby Hammond, East Suffolk’s cabinet member for Economic Development and Transport said: “As part of Lowestoft’s PowerPark, The Nexus will provide modern, attractive premises for local businesses, and will offer a range of unit sizes to attract businesses to come to Lowestoft. At East Suffolk we are particularly keen to welcome companies to apply for The Nexus who are committed to a low carbon future and the many high-quality jobs that will offer."
East Suffolk Council wereassisted by Allman Woodcock throughout the initial design and planning phase of the project. Construction will be undertaken by SEH and the units will be marketed by Bycroft Commercial. Any early interested parties are encouraged to contact Bycroft Commercial directly on 01493 844489.
