A new weekly drop-in service has been launched for people in search of free, confidential advice on saving money and managing finances.
East Suffolk Council’s Financial Inclusion Team, who are part of our new Community Help Hub, will be offering guidance on a range of money related topics every Thursday morning at a new community hub in Bungay.
The sessions begin on Thursday 29 June, from 9.15am-12pm, and will then take place from 10am-12pm each week at Number 28, the home of Bungay Community Support, in Wingfield Street.
Cllr Katie Graham, East Suffolk’s cabinet member for Communities, Leisure and Tourism, said:
“Most of us will have felt the impact of ongoing economic uncertainty on the cost of living – and some among us will have faced a struggle to make ends meet at times.
“As a local authority, it’s important for us to make people aware that help is available – and we hope these weekly sessions will offer guidance and support for anyone with questions about managing their money.”
Topics will include reducing bills and spending, increasing income, applying for grants, and where to get help for dealing with debt, as well as how to obtain replacement ID documents, open bank accounts, and apply for benefits or help for childcare costs and school uniform.
Anyone unable to attend the sessions can still learn more about the help on offer by visiting East Suffolk Council’s dedicated online Ease the Squeeze programme page, or by calling the customer services team on 0333 016 2000 and asking for ‘help with money’.
The Ease the Squeeze programme provides information on the services and support available to help meet the rising cost of living, including help with accessing support, as well as useful tips and advice.
