We understand that health and social care professionals often need to visit residents who live in permit parking zones. In some areas, all kerbside spaces are regulated, such as time limited bays, while in others, certain sections are left unrestricted. Both types of areas can offer useful parking options when visiting residents.
However, there may be times when parking in permit holder bays is necessary to provide essential care. To make this easier, carers can apply for a Health and social care permit, which offers additional parking flexibility. If you’d like to benefit from this, please register and apply for eligibility online.
- Eligibility: Health and social care workers employed by a registered care provider
- Cost: £8.00 annually (registration fee)
- Format: Virtual
- Purpose: Provides parking opportunities for care providers within designated resident permit streets or zones
- Validity: Resident permit bays only
- Note: Permit does not guarantee a parking space
How to apply for Health and Social Care Eligibility
To apply for health and social care eligibility, you will need to register with our online parking portal and submit your application online. As part of the process, you must provide proof of your registered care providers address and proof of your employment. Please refer to our list of accepted documents below:
- Pay slip containing your name, address, and the care providers details (no older than 2 months)

Once your eligibility has been approved, you will then be able to park a designated vehicle within the designated resident permit bays without the need to display a physical permit.
