2012 Quality of Place award winners

The third annual Quality of Place awards were held on Wednesday 19 September in the Council Chamber at Melton Hill when prizes were awarded to five outstanding local projects:

• Design winner - Heron House, Prior's Hill Road, Aldeburgh
• Design highly commended - Long Reach, Stratton Hall Drift, Levington
• Building conservation (large scheme) - Woodbridge Tide Mill, Tide Mill Way, Woodbridge
• Building conservation (small scheme) - Hasketon Grange Barn, Grundisburgh Rd, Hasketon
• Community Project - The Newbourne Play Project, Newbourne's Community Field, Newbourne, (now named the Rev' John's Revelry by the children).

Nature/Landscape - unfortunately we didn't get any nominations in this category this year.

The judges

The judging panel was made up of Neil Montgomery of the Woodbridge Society, Fiona Cairns, a conservation expert and consultant, and local architect Peter Wells, and was chaired by Councillor Veronica Falconer. The awards were presented by the Vice-Chairman of the Council, Councillor Peter Bellfield.
