ScottishPower Renewables plans to develop two further projects, in addition to East Anglia One and East Anglia Three, across the East Anglia zone. They were awarded seabed rights for the projects, as part of the Crown Estate’s Round 3 process. East Anglia One North and East Anglia Two offshore wind farms comprise of two Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects.
ScottishPower Renewables submitted their applications for East Anglia One North and East Anglia Two wind farms to the Planning Inspectorate on 25 October 2019. The Planning Inspectorate accepted the applications on 22 November 2019. East Suffolk Council and Suffolk County Council worked closely together to respond to the proposals and where possible, provided joint responses. The examinations in relation to both projects closed on 6 July 2021. The Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy consented both applications on 31 March 2022. This offshore windfarm site is located in the southern North Sea, approximately 36km from the port of Lowestoft and 42km from Southwold. The project has a potential generating capacity of up to 800MW, which is enough to power approximately 659,922 UK households.
