Worlingham Neighbourhood Plan was prepared by Worlingham Parish Council following extensive consultation with the local community and sets out its vision for development to 2036.
Following a ‘yes’ vote at referendum on 17 November 2022, the plan was formally ‘made’ by East Suffolk Council on 23 November 2022 and now forms part of the Development Plan for the District.
The council determined to make the plan on the grounds that more than 50% of people who voted in the referendum voted in favour of the council using the neighbourhood plan to help it determine planning applications in the neighbourhood plan area. The Council further considers that the neighbourhood plan would not breach or be incompatible with any EU obligation or any of the Convention Rights.
The Neighbourhood Plan document is being updated and a made version will be published when ready. In the meantime the referendum version of the plan carries full weight and contains all of the policies in full.
Worlingham Parish Council submitted its Neighbourhood Plan to East Suffolk Council and the Broads Authority ahead of it being submitted for independent examination.
Consultation period: 9 November 2016 to 21 December 2016
Status: Approved 8 February 2017
