Your new waste collection service – supporting you through the changes

Better Recycling begins in East Suffolk soon, and you will receive your collection calendars shortly, clearly explaining exactly what will be collected, and when, where YOU live.

From 1 June, households will be receive the following services:

  • A recycling collection for glass, plastics, metal and cartons (blue lid bin) every three weeks;
  • A recycling collection for paper and card (green lid bin) every three weeks;
  • A general rubbish collection (black/grey lid bin) every three weeks;
  • A weekly food waste collection (grey food container).

However, please make sure you check your calendars carefully as the order in which your collections take place may have changed.

This means, for some of you, that there may be a slightly longer wait (than the scheduled three weeks) between your final general rubbish collection in May, and your first one in June. This longer wait will only occur ONCE as part of the transition process.

With additional recycling available to households and the new weekly food waste collection, there should be less waste to place in your general rubbish bin. However, for those affected by the longer wait, refuse crews will collect any additional general waste which has accumulated during the delay. This one-off ‘side waste’ collection will take place during the week commencing 15 June 2026.
We are aware of the households affected and there is no need to contact us to arrange this.
Side waste must be securely bagged and left beside the black/grey lidded bin on collection day. However please be aware that additional recycling waste left beside bins will not be collected.
